OSFC Food Shares

One of the benefits of being a member of the Orem Senior Friendship Center is access to the food donations shared by our partners.

Our volunteers spend countless hours collecting, separating, cleaning, and dividing these larger items into manageable portions, then beautifully arranging them on our donation tables for you. Without each of these crucial steps, we would not have these items to offer.

We are stewards of the items we receive. Through agreements with our partners, these items are expressly for the benefit of our senior members. There is plenty to share, as long as everyone takes only what they need. Because we have experienced some abuse of this system, we have established the policy below. All members must abide by these rules or risk losing their privileges to participate in this program.

1. Membership Required: You must be a current member at the time you are picking groceries.

2. Household Only: You may only get items for your own household. Not for your kids, not for your neighbors, and not for anyone else outside your home.

3. Bring a Bag: Please bring your own reusable shopping bag.

4. Bag Limit: Only one bag per household, per day.

5. Do Not Take Boxes: Do not remove any of the boxes holding the produce. These are not part of the offerings.

6. Line Etiquette: No saving places in line or cutting ahead of others.

Hours: Our store opens Monday through Thursday at 11:00 AM.

There will generally be a volunteer attendant monitoring the tables.

  • First Warning: If an attendant speaks with you about taking too much, your program privileges will be suspended for one week.

  • Second Warning: If we have to speak with you a second time about violating the rules, your privileges will be removed permanently.

If we find we have an overabundance of items, we may choose to use them for BINGO prizes, prizes for other activities, or share them with other seniors and senior centers who are not as fortunate as we are. This is our prerogative and keeps in line with our partner agreements.

Orem Senior Friendship Center is dedicated to serving city residents who are age 55 and older.  The following are standards of conduct and behaviors to ensure a safe, healthy and pleasant environment at the Orem Senior Friendship Center and at Center sponsored activities, enabling older adults to participate in programs contributing to an improved quality of life.

Staff and volunteers are expected to maintain high standards of respect, professionalism and courtesy with all participants,
fellow volunteers and staff.

Participants are expected to:

  • Be able to function independently in the Center or be accompanied by a caregiver.
  • Maintain personal hygiene that is healthy and not offensive.
  • Use voice, language and behavior that will not offend or
    disturb other participants or staff.
  • Recognize and respect diversity and treat others with
    courtesy and consideration.
  • Help avoid needless repairs by using the Center and Center
    equipment with care.
  • Understand that all Centers are public facilities requiring

  • In the case of inappropriate behavior by participants, the Center
administrator or designated staff member will clearly state
expectations, concerns and seek the cooperation of the
participant in resolving the issue. If the behavior continues, on-
duty staff has the authority to ask the participant to leave.
  • If a participant’s privileges are suspended for more than one full day,
the Center administrator will provide written notification of the
